Prayer is Powerful

How often as a believer in Jesus do you pray? Daily? Weekly? Hourly?

How often do you pray for your husband? This has been on the forefront of my thoughts this week as I continue the Summer Marriage Challenge. I pray for my husband quite regularly. Sending up petitions to God for things I've gleaned from our conversations or things I know are going on at work or struggles at home. I can't imagine being the head of a home. The leader of a family. How would it feel to have four sets of eyes looking to you? Depending on you? Our husbands need all the prayers they can get.

So, yesterday morning I asked before he left for work..."what can I pray about for you today?" He laughed and said "for the speeders on our street to stop!" And off he went. Amazingly, the speed tracker trailer showed up in the neighbor's driveway this morning. God has a sense of humor I tell ya! Last night he shared a heart felt request. I feel so honored that my husband would bring something weighing so heavy on his heart and ask me to pray for it.

Here are just a few of the items that I ask God for when I am praying for my husband:

• peace at work and home
• protection during travels when he is away from us
• affirmation of his efforts as the provider of our family
• encouragement that he is on the right path for his career
• affirmation of his talents
• an overwhelming sense that we appreciate him and all he does for us
• joy
  
• contentment
• for God to show me ways to be my husband's helper in all things
