Saga of a Detox...

Day 1- So I finally bit the bullet and am doing a detox on recommendation by my chiropractor.  I thought this would make an interesting on-going topic to blog about.  Think you want to hear about what happens to me in the course of 21 days as I rid my body of toxins?  I'm not sure I want to either!!

What is it-
The Standard Process Purification Program.

How it works-
I can eat all the fruits and vegetables I want.
I take 30...seriously...30 supplements a day!!  I know, crazy right.  And don't think I'm not gagging in the kitchen trying to get these horse-pill-sized capsules down.
Green Tea and water...that's it...to drink.
2-3 Complete shakes(outlined in the info link above)
Brown rice and lentils (1/2 cup cooked. Have to laugh here because the info says "measure carefully" hahhaha)
High quality oils(flax, evoo, coconut, grape seed, fish)

Doesn't sound so bad yet does it?  Let's talk for a minute about what I can't have.  All those delicious wonderful things that I crave each and everyday.  Or things that have become part of the daily routine.  Or things that are a comfort in the morning while I chat with my husband(COFFEE!!!!)  For real!  No coffee!  Yes, you read it correctly.  No coffee for 21 days (insert baby cry here).   No alcohol, nuts, seeds, dairy, grains(except brown rice), processed or refined foods.  No meat for the first 11 days!  Oh dear.  I feel a big whine coming on.  You know that whine you do the night before final exams because you haven't studied like you should  and the test is tomorrow and you know you're not going to pass and its so much easier to whine on the floor.  You don't know that whine.   I do.  Big time.

Why I'm doing this-
I'm 32 years old and I'm sick of feeling tired and achy.  I'm sick of crashing mid afternoon after the coffee wears off and all I can think about is what can I eat or drink for a pick-me-up(or is it bedtime yet!).  I'm tired of my hands being so swollen that I can't get my wedding ring on...for a couple months now.  Its true.

So, now that I've put it out there to the public I guess I'm gonna have to stick to it.  And you lucky readers get to hear all about it.  The good, the bad and the ugly...or whiny as the case may be.  I will also add a review of what I've consumed for the day.  If you don't want to read about it, skip it.  Otherwise I'm hoping by blogging about this journey, I can hold myself accountable.

Day 1 food intake: was actually yesterday
30 supplements
brown rice
mango, pear, banana
lots of celery
veggies sauteed in evoo and fresh herbs
a pot of green tea
lots and lots o'water.....lots

Anyone else out there detoxing?  Wanna talk about it?
