Saga of a Detox...Day 9

Only two days til meat re-enters the picture!  Not that I'm counting down or anything.  Hahaha!

Because I've been on this health journey for the last 9 days, I thought I'd try to incorporate some new/reinvented things into the kids' diet.  Like ditching Kraft mac-n-cheese.  I'm not going to turn this into a bash session about boxed mac.  But, we all know its not the utmost in nutrition and health.  Food coloring, chemicals.  You get the picture.  So, I tried homemade mac last night.  It was pretty much boiled elbow macaroni and shredded cheese stirred til it melted.  One out of three kids liked it.  The hubs added a ton more cheese and Tabasco.  He puts Tabasco or salsa on pretty much anything, so no surprise there.  Kohl said it just wasn't the same.  Of course it wasn't!  It wasn't neon orange, with artificial flavoring.  Now I'm on a mission to find thee perfect homemade mac-n-cheese recipe.  Kinda like 5 years ago when I was on a mission to find thee perfect pancake/waffle recipe.  Which I did find, by the way.  If you want it, let me know.  If you have a great homemade mac-n-cheese recipe, send it my way.

Day 9 food intake
Breakfast: green tea, Complete shake, supplements

water, herbal tea

Lunch: awesome salad w/snap peas, onion, tomato, wild greens, 1/2 cup warm lentils, oil&vinegar dressing

water, supplements, Complete shake

Dinner: 1/2 wild brown rice, stir fried broccoli, snap peas, onions, asparagus, brussel sprouts, bell pepper

Dessert: a bowl of frozen pineapple and blueberries

Some other big victories this week...I made cake and cookies for the family and didn't partake!  Even made from scratch icing.  It smelled divine.  And I really wanted to lick the bowl.  Like stick my face in it and lick every last drop.  But, I didn't.  Yea me!

Send those mac recipes my way.  The test kitchen is up and running.
